Can I use an accelerator, intensifier, or maximizer outdoors?
Yes, if used in conjunction with an SPF. These products do not contain sunscreen and will not protect against sunburn.

Maintaining the moisture level in the skin is essential to a longer-lasting tan and healthier looking skin.
What do hot tingle products do?
They help stimulate rapid circulation on the surface of the skin, creating an extreme redness and warming/tingling sensation to enhance the intensity and appearance of a tan. The effect is temporary and can last up to several hours.
Should I use a hot product on my face?
No. The sensation is too intense for sensitive facial skin. We recommend washing hands after applying a hot product to avoid transfer to the face or other sensitive skin areas.
What does a bronzer do?
It enhances the tanning process, and allows skin to further darken with DHA sunless tannings that develop in 4-6 hours for deeper, darker, longer-lasting tan.
Should I exfoliate before using a bronzer or a sunless tanner?
Yes. Exfoliation helps remove dry skin cells which absorb self-tan color and can refract UV tanning rays, causing splotchiness and uneven results.
Should I moisturize before using a bronzer or a sunless tanner?
Not for at least 2 hours before and 4 hours after application. Moisturizing can act as a barrier prior to sunless tanning, inhibiting full development of color, and moisturizing immediately after sunless tanning can cause streaking.
How long should I wait to shower after using a bronzer or sunless tanner?
Wait at least 2 hours before showering, swimming or any activity that might create excess prespiration. This will ensure a smooth, even color and help prevent streaking.
How long does a sunless tan last?
It typically lasts from 3-5 days, and will start to fade as your skin exfoliates. You can extend your sunless tan with certain moisturizers.
If I have a sunless tan do I still need to wear SPF when I am outdoors?
Yes. Sunless tans are artificial coloring of the skin and have no protection from UV rays.
Why isn't closing my eyes good enough?
Eyelids aren't effective at blocking out UV light. A simple comparative test would be to close your eyes where you are at and look toward the available lighting. Now put your hand in front of your closed eyes. Did you notice a shadowpassing in front of your eyes? If you did, that's showing you that the available lighting is still getting trough your eyelids and reaching the back of your eyes.
This is an illustration with visible light, UV light penetrates just as easily. Cumulative long-term effects include loss of color perception, loss of night vision, macular degeneration (complete blindness except for perphiral vision), cataracts, and a permanent physical tissue build up that always looks irritated.
How do I prevent "Raccoon Eyes"?
Raccoon eyes occur for the same reason that some people who don't adjust the watch on their arm and get raccoon wrist.Adjusting the protective eyewear occaisionally during a tanning session will help minimize this condition. The adjustment can be performed by gently sliding the eyewear to a new position. You should never lift the eyewearoff of your eyes to adjust the position.
What's causing the scent that I smell after tanning?
In a word, melanin. Ultraviolet light in the UVA range causes melanin to enlarge and to turn brown. Dsuring the process melanin releases its own distinctive scent. This release is as natural as the tanning process itself. The scent is easily removed with a shower.
Why does some of a persons tan wash away?
The top of the skin layer is continuously renewing itslef. Depending on a person's age, the renewal cycle takes anywhere from once a month to 50 days to complete. Melanin that has been produced in the skin until it surfaces. At this point you have tanned melanin both in your skin and on the surface of your skin. Tanned melanin on the surface of the skin is going to remain there only as long as it takes to shave or wash it off. In a sense some of a person's tan will just wash away down the drain. Of course regular tanning visits rebuild what has been lost.
